McAllen Creative Incubator seeks Instructors for upcoming Community Class-Program
The McAllen Creative Incubator is offering a series of Community Classes presented by qualified Artists, Teachers & Tenants. The series called “Community Classes” is meant to engage adults in creative processes and to continue to expose residents to the cultural arts. The goal of the upcoming workshop is to connect local artists’ portions of the community interested in arts related events, thereby building a stronger community.
The McAllen Chamber of Commerce’s Cultural Arts Department is seeking Instructors on a variety of subjects for the upcoming workshop series. Plans are to begin the workshop series in September 2017.
Since its beginning this year, we have promoted over 20 community classes in an effort to engage adults in creative processes. The Community Program is growing successfully.
The McAllen Creative Incubator (McA2) is a department of the McAllen Chamber of Commerce’s Convention and Visitors’ Bureau and exists to support and promote the arts within the community. McA2 has been in existence for over a decade. The McAllen Creative Incubator is proud to host the following Camps, where students can expand their creativity beyond school curriculum. Contact the Instructor for more info! Additionally, McA2 is participating in the Summer Food & Nutrition Program, which provides free nutritious meals. Breakfast and Lunch will be provided by MISD, from June 5 to August 4th to children ages 18 years of age and under. Adults can purchase a meal at a reasonable price.

Last years Creative IMPACT summer CAMP was a big success. Incubators’ Victoria Lopez teamed up with Incubator Tenants and other talented artists to work with students in the realm of arts, focusing on writing, acting, art, and music. It was a beautiful experience and the students who participated last summer have already registered for this summer as well.

The McAllen Arts Council, 8th Annual Fine Art juried show encouraged local Artists to submit artwork related to the History of the McAllen Area. The McAllen Arts Council had a select panel of Judges, observe the technical quality, originality, artistic merit, and overall appeal, when awarding the photographs.
Over all 20 Entries were received and the best were awarded 1st 2nd & 3rd place.

Valeria Escareño Peña, Art piece titled: Shipley’s Donut
Valeria is currently a high School Student. She is pursuing a career in medicine, but her hobby is photography. She likes to document her travels near and far. One of her favorite places to capture is Chicago. Soon she plans to travel to New Mexico and Arizona for some landscape photography.
Irene Wazgowska, Art piece title: Nuevo Santander Gallery
New to the Valley, Irene is excited to have the opportunity to explore the McAllen arts scene. On a recent first friday, she was out with her family and caught an image of the Nuevo Santander Gallery on north Main St. She was taken with both the beauty of the building and the treasures that were found within the gallery walls. As she learns more about the city and the Valley as a whole, Irene hopes to continue to capture the gems that reside throughout this part of Texas.
Luis Suñer, Art piece titled: Sacred Heart Church
Luis Suñer is a Mexican graphic designer with more than 20 years of experience in traditional and digital photography. Luis enjoys shooting without flash or any other set up light, almost all his work is based on the light he faces in every situation, even modeling photos. Now with the help of computer software, he experiments with a variety of options moving his work to a different level
Winning entries will be on display at the McAllen Creative Incubator located at 601 N. Main St in McAllen, from May 1st through May 26th. Visit for free daily from 9am to 5pm.
