Doko Casual Art by Dania Olivares
As she looked down at the line that would seal the deal, she just couldn’t bring herself to do it. With a heart dedicated to art, she pushed the offer away and decided to follow her life-long dream and passion.
Two years later she’s going full speed ahead with Doko Casual Art, working out of the Incubator at 601 N. Main St. in downtown McAllen.
She currently has artwork placed in restaurants Roosevelt’s in downtown McAllen and Sabor Amor on Shary Road near Military Highway. She’s also received invitations to showings in Houston and Austin. “Many people have told me I am lucky but I don’t think so,” Dania said. “I work a lot. I search, I do research, I look for opportunities – that’s how things happen.”
Dania will have her 2013 annual exhibition at the Creative Incubator on Saturday, March 9th from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm; with the help of the McAllen Chamber of Commerce the Incubator at McAllen open its door for the public to enjoy her work and talent.
“Olivares’s paintings are comprised of up to a dozen layers of this unique combination of materials. The artist’s vibrant colors pop from beneath a gem-like. This stunning finish supports the philosophy she wishes to convey.” Ivan Gonzalez said Cultural Arts Director from the McAllen Chamber of Commerce.
