Chamber Music Concert Nights it’s a program of free educational concerts offered by Viol Consort String Ensemble with a variety of classical music with the purpose of making art more accessible and understandable to the community.

A  pre-concert talk would be offering  a fascinating insight into the  music you will be hearing. It begins at 6:30pm  half hour before the performance at the McAllen Public Library Auditorium.

the talk would bring each work and its composer to life in a whole new way and get you  ready to enjoy the concert more than ever.

These lively, interactive and informal talk, last for approximately 20 minutes and it’s held half hour  before the  concert begins. Get to the concert early and join us in the McAllen Public Library Auditorium and let us give you all there is to the music “behind the music.”

In this occasion Viol Consort will be performing a fine selection of XIX century repertoire for violin, piano and string quartet.  The concert will start with Johannes Brahms Scherzo in C minor for violin and piano from the F.A.E. Sonata followed by  Franz Schubert string quartet N.14 in D minor.

Viol Consort  has offered its exclusive  literature to local, national and international audiences in a variety of venues that include concert halls,  festivals, museums, and classrooms,for the sole purpose of promoting a cultural environment within reach of the whole community, especially in the Rio Grande Valley  where Chamber Music Concert Nights started  the program of 2 concert seasons  in McAllen Texas presenting eight didactic concerts per year.

The concert will be held at the McAllen Public Library Auditorium on Sunday January 29th at 6:30pm, Free Admission.

7 projects in the RGV are awarded the McAllen Arts Council-Grant in 2016

The McAllen Chamber of Commerce along with the McAllen Arts Council strongly support and believe that the Arts have a cultural impact to any City’s way of life. They continue to encourage the development of an Art community in McAllen and the surrounding cities. One of those programs of support is the McAllen Arts Council Grants Program which is designed to benefit the RGV community. Grants enable Artists and arts organizations to bring life-changing benefits to their community and carry out their work. Grants are awarded annually. This year (7) seven projects in McAllen received Grants from the MAC Grant Program.

Latin American Foundation for the Art- The Latin American Foundation for the Arts promotes, creates and develops initiatives’ and projects to improve cultural access and visibility of the literary, visual and performing arts.

Sam Heredia, Viol Consort is an orchestra with no more than 18 musicians, who perform classical period music, for the general public, thru the Chamber Music Concert Nights Series during the year. The Free-Concert takes place from September thru May at the McAllen Creative Incubator.

Victoria Lopez, Poet-Created and developed a Summer Arts Program that enabled and encouraged the artistic development in 20 youth, through instruments, writing, painting, poetry, theatre, singing and technology this past summer. This program was celebrated by its attendees and many look forward to participating in it next year.

The Valley Land Fund works to preserve, expand and enhance native wildlife habitat in the Rio Grande Valley and deep South Texas through education, land ownership and the creation of economic incentives. Since 1994, nature photography has been a trademark education tool of the Valley Land Fund.

The McAllen Creative Incubator supports artist & art activities. The McA2 is in the heart of the Arts district on Main Street and is uniquely positioned to actively connect the creative sector with the art, business, and creative communities. Visit the McA2 during the City wide, free-family friendly, Art Walk event every first Friday of the month. Stop by to visit its friendly talented tenants and discover new art by visiting artists.

STC’s Valley Honor Band will provide high achieving McAllen area band students the opportunity to perform in a fun and challenging environment while experiencing the rigor and quality of instruction expected at the collegiate level.

Thelma Davila a teacher at Reynaldo G. Garza Elementary & Evenly Rector wish to beautify their school’s patio tables. Their project, Mosaic Art & Chess boards will transform some metal playground tables into Chess boards. The project will allow the students to engage in this thought provoking game, during recess, while at the same time creating art of the old metal tables. The tables will also be available to the public during non-school hours.

 In this occasion Viol Consort will be performing a fine selection of early music repertoire for string duet, string quartet and wind and string ensemble.  The concert will start with a set of beautiful baroque sonatas for violin, flute and cello from  XVII and XVIII century, followed by string works of Nicola Porpora and Francesco Duarte and  concluding with the majestic Symphony N.1 op. 1 by the composer  Giuseppe Antonio Brescianello for wind and string orchestra.

If you were not at the McAllen Creative Incubator on Sunday, September 18th, you missed a great start over of these free didactic concerts.

Chamber Music Concert Nights Series returned 3 classical music concert events to be held in the McAllen Creative Incubator.

The one hour performance of Viol Consort String Ensemble was spectacular, featuring as always, a fine mixture of familiar and obscure chamber works by a diverse group of composers. In these occasion  the concert started  with a beautiful collection of  XVII century sonatas  for violin, bassoon and cello featuring the  special guest Arturo Gonzalez in the bassoon joined by violinists Sam Heredia, Sarah Torres, Alfonso Atkinson, Gamaliel Sanchez in the viola and Abran Garcia in the cello.

They started the second half of the program with the Allegro from Rimsky Korsakov B-La-F String Quartet and concluded   with one of the most celebrated string quartets from Haydn’s Op. 64, the Fifth, in D, and so-called “Lark String Quartet”.

The powerful and inspiring repertoire kept the audience pleased and willing to attend the next concert that will be held on Sunday November 6th at 7:30pm at the McAllen Creative Incubator in 601 N. Main St. McAllen.

Chamber Music Concert Nights it’s a program of educational concerts with a variety of classical music with the purpose of making art more accessible and understandable to the community.

 In this occasion Viol Consort will be performing a fine selection from baroque to romantic repertoire for string trio and string quartet.  The concert will begin with a beautiful collection of  XVII century sonatas  for violin, bassoon and cello  followed  by the Allegro from Rimsky Korsakov B-La-F String Quartet. and concluding with one of the most celebrated string quartets from Haydn’s Op. 64, the Fifth, in D, and so-called “Lark String Quartet”.

Viol Consort String Ensemble was founded in 2001 by violinist and music-arranger Sam Heredia 1st violin of the String Quartet, he is joined by violinists Sarah Torres and  Alfonso Atkinson, violists  Gamaliel Orellana,  cellists Abran Garcia, And for this concert the ensemble will be hosting the guest artist Arturo Gonzalez in the bassoon.

Viol Consort String Ensemble presents Chamber Music Concert Nights 3rd concert of 2015’s fall season at 7:30pm this December 20th at the McAllen Creative Incubator, 601 N. Main St. (free admission).

Viol Consort is a classical crossover specialist ensemble that excels in multiple styles-from baroque, classical, contemporary, jazz, tango, pop and more. The group of talented young musicians is united by the passion for music and the purpose of promoting a cultural environment within reach of the whole community, especially in the Rio Grande Valley, where they started the program of two concert seasons per year in McAllen.

This time the talented ensemble will be presenting a Christmas program including, Water Music – Handel, Concerto Grosso – Corelli, Vivaldi and Christmas selections.

This coming October 11th Viol Consort String Ensemble presents: Chamber Music Concert Nights,  first concert of 2015’s fall season at 7:00pm  in  the  McAllen Creative Incubator (601 N. This coming  concert is dedicated to Central Africa Republic, one of the poorest countries in Africa, with worse humanitarian crisis and Viol Consort String Ensemble will be collecting NEW pair of shoes or shirts for vulnerable orphans and women in Central Africa.
The talented ensemble  invites you to be in solidarity with the needy  bringing your donation to the concert and  helping them to complete the goal of 100 PAIRS OF NEW SHOES AND SHIRTS for vulnerable orphans and women in Central Africa.
