“FUSION: fashionART” Exhibit by Ruben Gomez

“FUSION: fashionART” Exhibit by Ruben Gomez

Born in Arlington Heights, Illinois, but raised in the tropical Rio Grande Valley, Ruben Gomez received by Bachelor of Fine Arts in Studio/Painting from the University of Texas Pan American in 2000. He is a self-taught artist that has also found a passion in teaching students at the Academy of Arts and Humanities (at La Joya High School).  Also teaches, about the many elements of art along with the importance of art marketing and business.

“I have been blessed to have found a career where I can work in what I find passion in, that is learning, creating, and teaching Art.” Said Mr. Gomez, “Art is undeniably about passion. It is about putting all of what you are, and what you are attempting to communicate, into what you have created. One of my favorite quotes by Vincent Van Gogh, derived from a letter he wrote to his brother Theo; “I am seeking. I am striving. I am in it with all my heart.” This quote defines me. I feel this is something that I have tried to communicate with my artwork. All of my pieces relate to one another either visually, or with a feeling. I try to capture moments that I find beautiful. Moments such as the way light and shadow wrap around a figure, or the way colors evoke emotion.”

The McAllen Creative Incubator prides itself in supporting local Artists like Mr. Ruben Gomez, by providing Artists a space at the Incubator where they can display their artwork at no cost to them.  McA2 is located at 601 N. Main Street, McAllen and opens daily from 9am-6pm.  All artwork on display is available for sale.

FUSION: Fashion Art Exhibit by Ruben Gomez, opens on Friday April 7th during the Art Walk event, from 7pm- 9pm.
