In 2014, with the City of McAllen the McAllen Chamber of Commerce launched TechPlace, the first open collaboration space in the Rio Grande Valley. This is a 2,500 square feet of collaboration areas for tech-minded entrepreneurs. Texas Wilson Furniture played a huge role in designing the 2,5000-square-foot state-of-the-art facility and office/studio space.
TechPlace officially opened its doors February 2015. TechPlace comprises the entire third floor of the McAllen Creative Incubator on North Main Street, providing a space where app developers, software developers, tech startups, programmers, coders and college students can connect with one another in a comfortable, ergonomically pleasing office setting.
Today TechPlace is the home for tech startups, app developers, programmers, Wayland Baptist University, Code RGV and others.  In (2015) , there have been several new launches of similar programs in Edinburg, Mission, Weslaco, and Harlingen and we are excited to see these cities, along with the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley jump in and add value to these “entrepreneur programs.”

Want to be part of TechPlace?

TechPlace is part of a joint effort by the McAllen Chamber of Commerce and the City of McAllen to foster tech innovation and start-ups in an environment that promotes collaboration and risk taking in the tech sector. It is an open office and collaboration concept with workspace for start-ups and pre-launch ideas. A key commitment behind TechPlace is to develop an ecosystem that fosters ideas and provides resources and access. At the heart of that ecosystem is a culture that is comfortable with chaos, ambiguity, and failure. In other words: At TechPlace, you have permission to fail. The goal is to be a learning enterprise that adapts and changes with each new iteration.

An alternative to traditional commercial space, TechPlace provides individuals with a powerful operating platform, combining the best tech connectivity with spaces that are creative, beautiful and full of community. We are built for people – Come explore us today!
